Artists send countless proposals – to fundings, residencies, exhibitions – most of which remain unseen and untalked-of. By showing one such application, Lisa Sudhibhasilp draws attention to the invisible layer of artistic production that usually stays hidden. For this presentation, she chose to reveal a hidden project: her application for the Prix de Rome in 2023.
As a visual artist and curator, Sudhibhasilp develops her work and research around the notion of display and the agency that it generates through design, architecture, and social (infra)structures, reflecting on the invisible labour and support structures behind artistic work.
She initiated reclame art space, a nomadic advertisement board hosted by local shops that presents practices challenging the culture of advertisement and the notion of merchandise. She is also part of the artist duo handle and care together with Vincent Knopper. They research the logistics behind art handling and produce publications and research about art storage and the care for artworks. Sudhibhasilp’s work has been shown in different contexts such as art spaces, storage, publications, staircases, art fairs, shop windows, public space, bookshops, offices, museums and stores.
